Travel documents for stateless persons, foreigners and refugees
As of 24th September 2015, foreigners, stateless persons, and refugees will be issued new electronic identity documents.
In compliance with the Regulation by the European Council, paper identity documents have been replaced by the electronic version, as it is the case
of the passport.
The new 32-page identity documents are printed by the Istituto Poligrafico dello Stato and feature a microchip storing the holder's facial
image and two fingerprints, while the holder's personal details are in the inside.
The electronic versions of these travel documents are issued by Immigration Offices, under the same eligibility checking procedures as passports.
As of 24th September 2015 it will be no longer possible to issue the paper version of these identity documents.

The document book costs € 42,22. The fee can be paid by postal order to the account no. 67422808 payable to Ministero dell'Economia e
delle Finanze - Dipartimento del Tesoro.
Make sure you attach the payment receipt to your application.
