Chief of police Pansa signs two cooperation agreements in Bucharest

Il prefetto Pansa alla riunione con i vertici della sicurezza romeniBalkan strategies for Italian security. Today Chief of police Alessandro Pansa has signed two important agreements with Romania and SELEC (Southeast European Law Enforcement Center) in Bucharest.

The bilateral agreement with Romania will enhance the cooperation projects between the two countries which are currently underway, focusing, in particular, on information sharing and apprehension of fugitives wanted by both nations.

Il capo della Polizia Alessandro Pansa all'incontro con il SELECSELEC granted Italy the status of Operational Partner and the agreement which has been signed today in Bucharest has the purpose to strengthen cooperation with the Center in the fight against trans-border organized crime.

The twelve SELEC member states are Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia, Greece, Hungary, Moldova, Montenegro, Romania, Serbia and Turkey.

The agreement sets forth the right for Italy to cooperate in the investigations into all forms of organized crime and to exchange personal data and strategic information, to participate in operational activities and joint investigations, as well as to post its representatives and participate in trainings and seminars.

Prefect Alessandro Pansa, who is accompanied by his deputy Francesco Cirillo, while in Bucharest will meet the Romanian Prime Minister Victor Ponta.
