United against racketeering and usury
What is racketeering ?
Racketeering (or "pizzo", that is,
protection money) is a criminal activity usually aimed at obtaining the periodical payment of a sum of money from a dealer in return for
"protection" from threats that are actually carried out by the extortioner.
What is usury?
Usury consists in exploiting the need for money of another person in order to gain a huge illicit profit. It
is a crime which consists in lending money to someone at an interest rate higher than the so-called "threshold rate" (calculated by increasing the
average interest rate of the different credit operations by 50%).
