Security and solidarity: these are the themes around which the 2014 edition of the National Police calendar revolves.

The main aim of the project was using images to describe the daily work of our police officers. The 12 photos of the 2014 edition are taken from real life and depict shots of police activity in the fight against crime and in public rescue operations, as well as in routine police work.

The 2014 calendar of the Polizia di Stato has been presented today at the Police Academy, in the presence of the Director General of Public Security and Police Chief Alessandro Pansa, and the President of the Italian Committee for UNICEF Giacomo Guerrera.

During the ceremony, Prefect Pansa said: "Budget cuts have become an incentive to increase our efforts". "Our mission is to provide a service, that is security, and we need to make common cause with all law enforcement agencies to maintain a high standard".

"This calendar - concluded Prefect Pansa - is of major importance to us: it does not only measure time, but also makes people feel we are close to them and will always provide an efficient and specialised response to their needs."

Police and Unicef: joint projects
Thanks to their long-established partnership, the Polizia di Stato and UNICEF will work together once again to bring solidarity to less fortunate nations. The proceeds from the calendar will be used to build permanent spaces for children, and night and temporary shelters. Legal aid and legal advice will also be granted, in addition to activities favouring social inclusion and reintegration.

The Polizia di Stato decided to use the calendar's proceeds to support the UNICEF project entitled "Bangladesh - Protection of working and street children".

From 2001 to 2013 approximately 1,800,000 euros were raised to support UNICEF. This amount will be supplemented by the sum of 133,000 euros derived from the sales of the 2014 calendar.

The calendar free App (iOS and Android) is also available for download on the police website www.poliziadistato.it .
