Lorenzo Bertini was born on June 1, 1976 in Pontedera. He was a medallist in Athens 2004, where he won a bronze medal in the lightweight coxless four.

He was part of the Italian team in Beijing, and competed for a seat in the lightweight coxless four to the last moment. Eventually, the technical director of the national team Andrea Coppola decided to take him as a reserve for the lightweight coxless four and lightweight double scull.

His many achievements include several medals at the most important international competitions, and this is why he will represent Italy also at the 2012 Olympic Games in London.

Lorenzo Bertini started rowing at the Pontedera club and joined the Fiamme Oro police sports group in 1998.
